A princess line dress traditionally has no waistline, with the darts doing all the shaping. Victoria does have a waistline because her skirt is an A-line style in keeping with 1950’s dresses. As a princess line bodice, she is constructed of six panels, each of which are carefully shaped to optimise the fit around your torso. From her figure hugging bust and waist, to her gracefully draping A-line skirt, Victoria is must have dress for your wardrobe.
Dinner and dancing, a stroll in the park or even a visit with friends for a coffee, Victoria is always going to be the vintage style dress of choice. Her neckline is high cut in an oval shape which allows your neck to expose your femininity without giving too much away. Victoria’s skirt is constructed with two triangular shaped panels, narrower at the waist and tapering out to give her skirt a flirty fullness.
Victoria looks fabulous with heels or flats, making her the perfect frock to dress up or keep casual. When teamed with a vintage cape or jacket, she is ready for those colder days too.
The princess line dress originated from the 1870’s when Haut Couture designer Charles Worth created and named her after Princess Alexandra. As one of the first non-corseted bodices of that time, is was rather risqué to be seen wearing one, but nowadays it is one of the most popular vintage dress styles around.
Designed to elongate and slim your body shape, the princess line dress has her curves in all the right places and Victoria is no exception. Her skirt attaches where her princess seams begin, demonstrating the elegance this style is known for. After all, success is certain when you wear Victoria.
